About This Program
The Health & Wellness major will prepare you to actively participate in changing the health and wellness environments of individuals and their communities through careers such as fitness and wellness coordinator, health education specialist, community health worker, and group fitness instructor.
As a CMU Health & Wellness major, you will have opportunities to:
- build in-demand skills while taking classes such as medical terminology, personal and community health, nutrition for sport and exercise, psychological and sociological aspects of sport, and care and prevention of athletic injuries.
- develop/create the appropriate intervention strategies to maximize, maintain, and promote healthy lifestyles for individuals, families, and their community using evidence-based information.
- build a skill set that prepares you to effectively use business and leadership concepts to promote, budget, and manage health and wellness programs and facilities.
- participate in hands-on learning through coursework and practicum experiences.
- demonstrate successful communication skills using a person-centered approach to educate individuals and the public about wellness.
